Wilmington Train Station begins using its temporary station today while the old station gets an interior makeover.
WDEL's Erica Guidetti has the details. Video Here
Wilmington Station was built in 1907 and designed by renowed architect Frank Furness.
The station is listed on the National Register of historic places so during the
course of renovation special care will be taken to maintain Furness' Victorian style.
Station Master Ron Edwards says the building needs major improvement.
While improvements are being made, a temporary station will be located on the corner
of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Walnut Street.
Edwards says all services riders are used to will still be available.
Amtrak anticipates the temporary station will be used through December of 2010.
Amtrak is encouraging riders to add more travel time to and from the station.
